Having a few chord progressions under your belt is a great idea to understand some of the harmony that happens in Country music.

The Chords are quite simple and easy to memorize.

Take a look at two different ways to play the progression in this lesson.

Example 1 uses simple chords in a traditional manner. This provides the foundation for the melody of a song as well as other guitar parts.

Ex.1

    G            C           D            G        D
E|--3------------0-----------2------------3--------2---|
B|--0------------1-----------3------------0--------3---|
G|--0------------0-----------2------------0--------2---|
D|--0------------2-----------0------------0--------0---|
A|--2------------3------------------------2------------|
E|--3-------------------------------------3------------|

Example 2 may be played instead or in tandem as a second guitar part for Example 1.

These are just power chords with an added 6th. I’m also accenting the 3rd of the chord by hammering or sliding to the note.
