Chord progressions make up a lot of what we do as acoustic guitarists.

In this lesson you’re going to learn 2 chord progressions utilizing chords you already learned in this course.

What I really want you to focus on in this lesson is changing to these chords with minimal movement.

If you’re going to make these progressions sound smooth you want to move your fingers and hand position only as much as needed and no more. This is the beauty of economy of motion.

To make these transitions smooth, you need to be aware of what each finger needs to do to transition to the next chord.

You might want to isolate each finger and only move one at a time at first.

You also might want to just practice moving the shapes only without playing with your strumming hand.

This way, you can focus on your movement and minimize it if need be.

Progression 1:

Em / / / | Am / / / | Em / / / | Am / / / |

Progression 2:

G / / / | C / / / | D / / / | C / / / |

Progression 3:

E / / / | A / / / | D / / / | A / / / |
