It’s time to put these power chords to some use!

They’re very easy to master and sound great so I provided 3 examples in this lesson to give you an idea of how to use them.

Example 1 is really straight-forward.

The sequence is performed using steady eighth-note down strokes with a ghost notes when transitioning between string forms.

Example 2 sounds different because you’ll be palm muting the 5th string every time you play a single note.

This produces a natural accent and further amplifies the crunch of the chord by providing a pulsating rhythm.

Finally, Example 3 uses the open power chords much in the way you would hear in classic rock.

Does Agnus Young some to mind? A couple ornamental hammer-on techniques complete the classic rock sequence.
